On the 23rd May, I am running a BCS (British Computer Society) forum/seminar in London in the evening 6pm for a couple of hours. The capacity of the meeting will be 150 people - and I suspect it will be packed out.
 
I have invited David Leigh, the Guardian journalist who is also professor of reporting and journalism at City University. He was instrumental in providing a conduit for the main press through the Guardian and the New York Times. He has recently published a book on Wikileaks through the Guardian.
 

Just what was going on? England were dis-allowed an obvious goal. What did the Germans do? Did they just ignore everything and carry on? Yes. Well they missed an opportunity.
 
If they had been so confident of winning - what would have happened if they had remonstrated with the referee as well - just imagine the consequences:

It seemed that New Labour fooled everyone. In the last 13 years they have DOUBLED the number of civil servants. By having a huge number of civil servants it has made public service a facet of banana republic: there are very few real large businesses running in the UK anymore and Labour has soaked up the labour pools into public service.
 
The cost is that it has hidden the lamentable performance of the UK in terms of real value added employment. Employment issues have been hidden all this time and will about to be revealed.
 

Be prepared. There is definitely an end to the consumption era. An era fueled by oil. Without that oil, our distribution processes breakdown and we increasingly rely on returning to a world in which oil was not fundamental: maybe to world as we know it at around 1850. In that world, people still sought to live in cities to take an opportunities from the burden and poverty of the countryside - the mirror of what happens today in third world countries and those burgeoning economies India and China.
